Who We Are

Autism Spectrum Disorders affect as many as 1 out of every 68 people, and can present unique challenges for parents and children alike. REACH Behavior and Development Center specializes in partnering with families to develop the skills and strategies that enable their children to be happy and independent.

We offer a wide range of direct and consultative services for people with developmental disabilities and their families. Our comprehensive programs strive to foster your child’s independence in areas including communication, social skills, behavior, cognitive functioning and life skills.

Our Approach

REACH specializes in providing comprehensive programs to enhance your child’s independence. By combining highly-trained behavior technicians, transparent data collection, and developmentally appropriate programming, we will create a program you can trust— with results that are evident.

Who We Help

REACH works with schools and families to serve children of all ages. We see children with a range of learning needs, including Autism, ADHD, developmental delays, and more.

How the Process Works

To begin your journey, schedule a free consultation with a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Following the initial consultation, we will assess your child using a variety of developmental tools. The assessment will inform which individualized goals and level of service we will recommend. We will then agree on a treatment plan and services will be provided for your child at the center by our multi-disciplinary team.

Why wait, talk to one of our therapists about building a custom therapy plan for your child today!

Your Customized Treatment Program

Immediately after you and your child start with REACH, your therapy team will conduct objective assessments to learn about your child’s strengths and areas for growth. They will then meet with you to discuss therapy recommendations and work with you to determine treatment goals. Your team will document all therapy goals in an individualized treatment plan for your child that will be reviewed, updated, and discussed with you on a consistent and on-going basis.

Speak With A Clinician

In order to best match our services with the specific needs of your family, REACH offers a complimentary consultation to better understand your child and family needs, learn about the challenges you’re facing and answer any questions you may have.

Services

Evaluations and Assessment

Each child is unique and therefore we believe it is our job to design a behavior intervention program that is individualized to your child’s specific needs. There is no “one-size-fits-all” ABA program.  Your child is unique and has specific strengths and weaknesses requiring a program to be designed to meet their individual needs.

Bridging the gap between chronological and developmental age is the ultimate goal of a treatment program. A Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) can assess your child and develop an individual behavior plan. A treatment package will include strengthening the child’s communication and daily living skills, while decreasing any inappropriate behaviors. After a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and/or Language Assessment is completed, a comprehensive program is developed.  Goal selection is rooted in the behavioral principles and evidence-based practices of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to target and teach necessary skills to improve your child’s quality of life.

Behavior Analysts plan for generalization so that behavior changes will be long lasting.  They will teach the individual and their family to generalize skills across various settings and people. ABA therapy is tailored to your family’s needs. A collaborative effort between our practitioners and your family members will ensure a treatment plan and environment will meets your family’s specific goals and priorities.

ABA Therapy / Direct Therapy

REACH Behavioral Therapists provide direct therapy which is guided by Individual treatment programs. These are developed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), based on a variety of student assessment results (e.g., VB-MAPP, FBA), direct observations, and input/feedback from parents, school or facility staff, and/or therapist(s).

Therapists will work 1:1 with the client on decreasing behavioral excesses, such as maladaptive or stereotypic behaviors, as well as increasing skill deficits across all domains, including language, imitation, joint attention, play skills, social skills, adaptive and self-help skills, academic, fine motor, and/or gross motor skills.

Additionally, IBS therapists will work with parents, family members, or school staff on implementation of ABA strategies to facilitate generalization of skills and to maximize the student’s opportunities for learning.

Specific teaching techniques used may include the following: Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Analysis of Verbal Behavior (AVB), and Natural Environment Training (NET).

Family and Community Support

At REACH we strive to provide a warm, supportive environment to both the children and the families we serve. It’s overwhelming to process a new diagnosis but you don’t have to do it alone. We help provide resources to those new to the diagnosis and families in need of further support.

Behavioral Programming

The behavior reduction program is designed for children who may or may not have a diagnosis but who engage in disruptive behavior in the home, school or community settings. This program focuses on teaching parents, teachers and other caregivers how to effectively decrease a child’s disruptive behavior and increase compliance and other appropriate behaviors.

Adaptive And Social Skills

The focus of the social skills training program is to increase the child’s overall ability to:

  • Recognize and interpret verbal and non-verbal communication
  • Develop appropriate peer relationships
  • Assist individuals with improvement in social interactions by expanding their interest in age appropriate topics, toys and play skills
  • Increase their ability to recognize the emotions of others

The goal is to minimize the stress and anxiety when participating in social interaction.

The program strives to provide the tools necessary for successful interpretation of social and communication skills.

Parent, Caregiver and Shadow Training

Outside of treatment, it is important for parents and other caregivers to have the ability and techniques to reinforce the skills their child learns in therapy by incorporating them into daily routines. As with any skill, practice is critical. Parents actively involved in their child’s therapy often increase the progress made by their children. Our treatment plans include the appropriate parent participation and training to ensure they can reinforce their child’s development beyond the therapy setting.

Telehealth Consultation Services

We provide video based consultation sessions between the parent and a member of the REACH team. After a brief check in, consultation sessions will focus on coaching a family through positive interaction during an identified routine. Feedback and ways to continue daily practice will be discussed in the debrief.

Telehealth can play an important part in the early recognition of ASD. Early observation is essential in helping a kid with autism, as research has reflected that early diagnosis can remarkably upgrade a child’s overall development. Research shows that children at younger age who get early behavioral meditation or training (before two years) display considerable obtains in functioning when balanced with children diagnosed later.

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy is a commonly known therapy and best practice used for children with an ASD diagnosis. ABA, a therapy relies on the science of learning and behavior that put it focus on upgrading behaviors that will help children and decreasing behaviors that are harmful or may affect learning. ABA therapy puts it main focus on positive reinforcement and teaching skills of everyday life.
